Global Aeronautica, LLC

Global Aeronautica is a joint venture of Alenia North America, a Finmeccanica company, and the Boeing Company. Global Aeronautica was formed in support of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner program. The company’s integration entails the joining of the mid-fuselage sections, the installation and testing of associated elements, and the application of surface finishes to more than 60 percent of the 787’s fuselage prior to shipment to Boeing’s final assembly facility in Everett, Washington.

Established in 2005, Global Aeronautica officially began operation in 2007. GA is located in North Charleston, South Carolina, and currently employs a workforce of over 650 skilled tradesmen and women who are involved in manufacturing, technical and production support, and administrative functions of the joint venture. The 334,000-square-foot integration facility is built on a 240-acre site adjacent to Charleston

International Airport and includes 252,000 square feet of manufacturing floor. In addition, the site includes a 60,345-square-foot surface finishes building. The Hub, a 14,000 square-foot training facility, supports Global Aeronautica production operations with training provided by readySC in cooperation with Trident Technical College.

Global Aeronautica receives mid-fuselage sections from an international supply chain including Alenia Aeronautica S.p.A of Italy, Fuji Heavy Industries and Kawasaki Heavy Industries of Japan.
