In addition to being a world leader in commercial aviation manufacturing, Alenia North America and Alenia Aeronautica design, manufacture and support military aircraft from the most advanced next generation jet fighter to the most rugged and versatile tactical transporters to the cost-effective and versatile jet trainers.
Alenia North America has created a Center of Excellence for the development and integration of advanced avionics in Smyrna, Georgia. This facility includes a software integration laboratory and Avionics Test Rigs focused on supporting the development and fielding of advanced avioncs for the C-27J Spartan.
Global Military Aircraft Systems (GMAS), a new company jointly owned with L-3 Communications Integrated Systems, is a logistics and training Center of Excellence to support the North American fleet of C-27Js selected as the new Joint Cargo Aircraft (JCA) by the U.S. Army and Air Force. GMAS is establishing a new facility in Madison, Mississippi.
Alenia North America, in partnership with Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, is also establishing a Center of Excellence for the production and final assembly of the C-27J for North American customers at Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida. This facility is scheduled to begin delivering aircraft by 2010.
C-27J Spartan
The C-27J Spartan is the perfect fixed wing multi-purpose cargo aircraft for today's diverse missions. Extremely maneuverable and versatile, the rugged C-27J boasts highest in its class power-to-weight ratio, and the ability to perform fighter aircraft-like, 3.0g force maneuvers - enabling it to make tight turns, and climb and descend quickly. It can fly farther, faster and higher than any other twin engine military transport aircraft in its class.
M-346 Advanced Jet Trainers
The Alenia Aermacchi M-346 is the world’s newest fifth generation advanced/lead-in fighter trainer. The M-346 was conceived with the latest “design-to-cost” and “design-to-maintain” concepts, with avionics modeled on the world’s fifth generation combat aircraft.
ATR 42 MP Surveyor
